A wonderful and bold early 20th Century Central Asian pictorial Khotan rug made for the Chinese market with wonderful Buddhist symbols. Details include a rich persimmon-colored background with several Chinese scholar’s objects including multiple vases potted with auspicious blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, and cherry blossoms, an incense burner, several religious books, and bowl of “Buddha’s Fingers (citron),” and a tea pot, with an unusual border of blossoming peonies with leaves in each corner.
