Chinese Art Deco Rug

A beautiful early 20th Century Chinese Art Deco rug woven with rich jewel tones including a deep amethyst purple field, surrounded by a taupe border. The central field includes an overlay of multicolored auspicious flowering chrysanthemums, peonies, and lotus, as well as billowing incense smoke and other scholars objects. The border has similarly styled flowers and scrolling vines, with a stylized meandering motif woven in navy blue.
