A wonderful early 20th century Chinese pictorial Art Deco rug featuring a scholar's pavilion perched on an outcropping in a garden landscape with a pond in the foreground, a bridge with a scholar gazing at the sky which holds two billowing clouds. The entire rug is woven in rich violets, cranberries, golds, varying shades of indigos, and brown.
