Woven in the town of Moud, just south of Mashhad in northeastern Iran, this early 20th-century Persian rug showcases the refined precision and elegance for which the region’s weavers are known. Moud rugs are prized for their tight weave, intricate detail, and balanced compositions—often created by skilled artisans using high-quality wool on a cotton foundation. This example features a classic all-over trellis floral pattern, with petite blossoms woven in pinks, indigos, greens, creams, and browns, set against a richly dyed crimson ground. The floral motif continues into the wide main border, where larger-scale flowers bloom among scrolling vines, framed on either side by petite floral guard bands. Every inch of the rug is thoughtfully composed, creating a sense of harmony and gentle movement across the surface. Both decorative and collectible, this Moud rug brings with it a sense of tradition, craftsmanship, and enduring beauty—equally at home in classic or contemporary interiors.
