A beautiful early 20th-century Persian Qashqai runner, handwoven with six large diamond medallions, each filled with stylized flowers and floating within a lively crimson field scattered with even more blossoms—and, in true Qashqai fashion, a few charming goats. The border is richly layered, composed of three distinct stripes: one geometric, one floral, and one featuring a line of simplified paisleys. The color palette is warm and earthy, with shades of crimson, soft and dark indigo, green, brown, and cream wool, all dyed with natural pigments and aged to perfection.
Qashqai rugs are woven by the Qashqai people, a nomadic tribal group in southwestern Iran, particularly around the Fars province. Traditionally made by women on portable looms, these rugs are celebrated for their dense wool, saturated color, and complex tribal iconography. Each piece tells a story—woven from memory, passed down through generations, and full of individual expression. This runner is a particularly joyful example.
