This early 20th-century Persian Sarouk runner features a classic mirrored floral pattern, richly woven in shades of cranberry, cream, pink, and light and dark indigo. The central field blooms with stylized sprays and palmettes arranged in symmetrical balance, a hallmark of Sarouk design. Framing the field is a series of narrow borders, each filled with petite floral motifs that add delicate rhythm and detail to the overall composition. Sarouk rugs are traditionally woven in the Arak region of west-central Iran, a region long celebrated for producing some of the finest Persian carpets. These pieces are typically hand-knotted by skilled village and workshop weavers, many of whom pass down their techniques through generations. Prized for their dense pile and graceful floral designs, Sarouk rugs were especially popular in the early 20th century with Western markets. This runner exemplifies the enduring elegance and fine craftsmanship associated with Persian weaving traditions.
