An exceptional early 20th-century Persian Serab runner, this piece is distinguished by its finely drawn pattern and earthy, natural palette. Woven in the village of Serab in northwest Iran, these rugs are typically crafted by Azerbaijani weavers known for their precision, symmetry, and use of camel hair—a hallmark of the region. The central field features a beautifully rendered, all-over miniature tree-of-life design, each motif echoing the next in quiet rhythm and balance. Framing the field is a slender border of repeating floral elements, which gives way to a wide outer band decorated with a striking large-scale paisley pattern—stylized, graphic, and unmistakably tribal. The rug is woven primarily in camel hair, lending it a soft, warm foundation, while accents of crimson, ivory, and both light and dark indigo wool create rich contrast and depth. Long and elegant, this runner brings warmth, heritage, and refined simplicity to halls, entries, or layered interiors.
