An early 20th century central Asian Samarkand rug with a large circular medallion woven with a pomegranate motif on a pale indigo background, amidst a field of pomegranates in a natural, undyed, wool background, surrounded by two distinct borders. One border is a Buddhist meandering motif and the other is a large-scale auspicious mushroom pattern border.
