An exceptional early 20th century Persian Ersari rug with an incredible pattern with multiple octagonal medallions on a rich crimson background. Between each medallion are simple, four-armed stylized floral motifs. Each medallion contains a sophisticated pattern of eight gazelles woven with alternating black, brown and crimson vegetable dyed wool. The border is equally as sophisticated with a repeated diamond motif woven in a zigzag pattern.
