An extraordinary early 20th century Central Asian Khotan rug with an incredible asymmetrical large-scale floral medallion woven in light and dark purple, coral, gold, pink, mint green, all outlined in a think black line. The medallion lives amidst a mint green field with flowering branches surrounded by a boldly detailed border with scrolled vines and leaves woven in similarly colored vegetable dyed wool. Unusual for this type of rug, it is signed by the weaver in the center, "Shakjal."
