Extraordinary Early 20th Century Khotan Rug

An extraordinary early 20th Century Central Asian Khotan rug with an incredible asymmetrical large-scale floral medallion woven in light and dark purple, coral, gold, pink, mint green, all outlined in a think black line. The medallion lives amidst a mint green field with flowering branches surrounded by a boldly detailed border with scrolled vines and leaves woven in similarly colored wool. Unusual for this type of rug, it is signed by the weaver in the center, “Shakjal.”
