A phenomenal 19th century Persian Malayer Shirvan prayer rug with an exquisite bold pattern woven by a master weaver! The stylized floral forms are expertly rendered, in light and dark indigo, crimson and natural undyed wool. There is a large central crimson shape resting on a rectangular indigo shape. These both are lying amidst a natural undyed wool field with a niche forming the mihrab at one end. Surrounding the mihrab are multiple borders, all with myriad stylized geometric floral forms, zigzags and diamond patterns.
